Star Wars Day: Episode I
And welcome to a galaxy far, far away...
With the recent release of the latest instalment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, The Last Jedi, the eighth main instalment of the entire Star Wars franchise, I thought we would take this opportunity to share some of our favourite items from our Star Wars range!
Our range of merchandise spans all eight movies, from the original Star Wars trilogy, such as our amazing Darth Vader and Storm Trooper cookie jars (£29.99), right through to our The Last Jedi mugs (£8.99) and coasters (£4.99).
My current favourites are the Chewbacca notebook (£10.99), featuring Chewie's unmistakable soft brown fuzzy fur, and ammunition bandolier. Chewbacca is a Wookiee warrior, smuggler and resistance fighter, and the co-pilot of Captain Han Solo aboard the Millenium Falcon. Chewie and Han Solo were instrumental on helping Luke Skywalker destroy the Death Star. Which leads me nicely to another of my favourite items – the Rogue One Death Star Bottle Opener, (£6.99) which also doubles as a keyring!
We've also recently obtained some lovely BB-8 and R2-D2 printed drinking glasses (£6.99). These beloved Astromech droids have featured heavily in the franchise. BB-8 belonged to the Resistance pilot Poe Dameron, and accompanied him during his X-Wing flights. BB-8 was instrumental in helping Dameron get the map of Jedi Master Luke Skywalker's location to safety on Jaaku, where he met Rey.
Artoo was primarily a maintenance droid serving the Royal Engineers of Naboo aboard Queen Padme Amidala's royal starship, and for his work ensuring the ship's safety, he was recognised before the queen and became her direct servant for many years. Amidala gave Artoo to Anakin Skywalker when he became a Jedi Knight. R2-D2 was later entrusted by Princess Leia Organa of the Rebel Alliance to bring a copy of the Death Star plans to Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. R2-D2 has had an eventful career compared to most astromech droids! And is one of the Star Wars franchise's most beloved characters. In our R2-D2 range we also have this fantastic USB powered desktop hoover (£15.99) and travel mug (£10.99).
Going over to the Dark Side, we also have a number of Empire items, such as these stunning printed Storm Trooper glasses (£6.99) and original design Stormtrooper Soap on a Rope (£4.99). Stormtroopers were the assault troops of the Galactic Empire, sometimes referred to as bucketheads, in reference to their bucket-shaped helmets). Their distinctive white plastoid armour was intended to instil fear in the Empire's subjects, as well as providing the soldiers within an extended range of survival equipment. Their armour is immediately recognisable and has lent itself well to a huge variety of merchandise. Our latest addition is this stunning stainless steel vacuum flask (£16.99).
We have an epic collection of Star Wars mugs, including several heat change ones, but my favourite has to be the Darth Vader “The tea is strong in this one” - I love a good pun, and as a tea drinker and a huge Star Wars fan, this combines many of my interests!
I just hope I can get to the cinema soon to see The Last Jedi. Since Leo was born, going to the cinema has been nigh on impossible, but now he's a bit older he might let me out by myself for a change! As for Zoe, she hasn't seen a single movie in the entire Star Wars series – I know, unbelievable isn't it?! So we are looking forward to the unofficial international Star Wars Day on May the 4th, so we can have a Star Wars marathon and she can begin her education. We will be blogging about this very special event during the marathon!
We hope you have enjoyed checking out our merch and we look forward to spending more time in the Star Wars universe in due course!
May the force be with you...
