Real Wedding - Mr & Mrs Butterworth

Updated: Sep 5, 2022

Hello beautiful,

We are so pleased to finally unveil this October edition of our Real Wedding of the Month! LMSB has been extremely busy with the shop and design work since Zoe returned from her well-earned sunshine vacation, and Leo and I have had a hectic few weeks with birthdays, trips to A&E, teething and the dreaded winter bugs! After lots of rest and play time, we’ve been able to enjoy celebrating Halloween, and starting to get excited about Christmas.

We’ll have more to say about Christmas from a stationer’s point of view over the coming weeks, including our deadlines for ordering, and opening times for the shop over the holiday period. For now, let’s get stuck in to our October Feature Bride’s spectacular wedding!

This month we are showcasing Cally and Chris Butterworth’s wedding, at Ashlar House, Bury St Edmunds on 20th August 2016. Let’s see what Cally has to share with us about her beautiful big day...

How did you meet?

"Online, nearly 7 years ago! We got chatting and got to know each other before becoming an item."

How did he propose? Or did you take the plunge?

"Chris proposed on Piazza Navona in Rome, he did it while getting me to take a selfie, which took me by surprise (but is definitely ‘me’ with being a selfie addict!) plus, with Chris’ bad knee if he got down on one knee he wouldn’t get back up!"

Tell us about planning your wedding…

"We planned everything within 6 months. The main pains were the venue (but we found the perfect one that was available at the right time) and the bridesmaid dresses, which were 1950’s style swing dresses, that were almost impossible to find."

What were you most excited about?

"Wearing my big dress and letting Chris see it finally!"

Did you trust your other half with any of the planning?

"Chris did his own little thing with creating a fantastic website for our wedding (callyandchris.uk) and had his input with most parts of the wedding, including the food, suits, and finishing touches."

What was your theme?

"We went for an Italian theme seeing as we got engaged in Rome! The table names were places we visited and had taken selfies at, and we had panettone and limoncello for favours - all covered with Cadbury’s purple, which is my favourite colour."

How did Zoe incorporate this theme in to your stationery?

"Zoe managed to select the perfect fonts for us that we felt fit perfectly, as well as a colour that was amazing."

What was your experience with Zoe like, as a designer?

"As a designer, Zoe is easily the best one I know! She has some crazy ideas that simply work and was always responsive to our feedback and input."

How did you feel when you saw the finished designs?

"They were amazing, we were incredibly happy with everything that had been produced! However, the table plan had a bit of damage in transit directly from her supplier, but Zoe was brilliant, and got it sorted for us the same day."

How many bridesmaids and pageboys did you have?

"I had four bridesmaids including the maid of honour, and Chris had four groomsmen including his best man."

Tell us about the big day itself…

"The day went so quickly it was unreal; an absolute whirlwind of a day! But it was amazing to have our friends and family to celebrate with us, apart from the odd one or two who couldn’t make it."

What was the easiest thing about planning your wedding?

"Colour scheme, theme and stationery - with the help of Zoe!"

…and the hardest?

"The guest list."

Did your guests like your stationery?

"Everyone loved it, they know how much I love purple and said it was very elegant and very ‘us’ with the seflie Polaroids on each table."

Did you get any particularly positive feedback for your theme and design?

"Stationery was exquisite, perfectly matched the theme of the wedding, and gave continuity through the day from the invite to the menu."

"Ingenious design added the personal touch with the finger print"

Where are you planning to go on your honeymoon?

"We’ve already been on it! We went two days after the wedding to Portugal. We stayed in an all-inclusive resort so we could relax."

Would you recommend LMSB to friends and family?

"Definitely, we have already mentioned LMSB to a few friends and my family!"

What a beautiful wedding! Zoe incorporated some really thoughtful personal touches into the stationery, which really tie the theme and colours together and create a uniquely beautiful design. The finger print hearts are simple, yet clever and intricately beautiful. The table plan map is contemporary, stylish and understated, using varying shades of purple to really bring Cally’s favourite colour into the stationery without becoming over saturated.

You may only have one or two specific details you want to incorporate into your own wedding theme, but when you have a consultation with Zoe, she instinctively understands what is important to you, and will pick up the subtle cues and idiosyncrasies that tend to come out when we’re excited or passionate about something. These subtle hints are like fairy dust to a creative designer! You may have lots and lots of ideas that you want to exhibit on your big day! Whatever your ideas are, Zoe will work her little socks off to bring your dream to fruition. This is why so many of our wonderful brides say that Zoe “just gets me."

If you're undecided about your wedding stationery then pop in or make an appointment to see Zoe for a consultation!

We hope you’ve enjoyed our October Wedding of the Month, and look forward to sharing our November edition with you soon! We would also like to wish all our customers, friends and family a Happy Halloween, from us all at LMSB, including our cutey patootie mascot, Ella!

Much love,

Let's Make Something Beautiful
