Real Wedding - Mr and Mrs Wensley
Well, it’s that special time of the month again where we share our gorgeous Featured Wedding of the Month blog!
This month, we delve into Damien and Laura Thompson’s wedding. This happy couple met at school, and were married at The Whitehall Hotel, Darwen, on the 26th August 2016. Let’s see what Laura has to say about their big day...
How did you meet?
"We met at school. We've been together nearly 18 years"
How did he propose? Or did you take the plunge?
"Damien proposed on my 30th birthday – the proposal was actually on my birthday cake! After all the tears, I eventually said 'yes'."
Tell us about planning your wedding… What were you most excited about?
"Marrying each other! And for me, wearing my wedding dress. Also having a great big party with the families and friends all together."
Did you trust your other half with any of the planning?
"I trusted Damien fully, although I did all the niggly bits and Damien just worked his socks off to pay for it all!"
What was your theme?
"Cadbury’s purple, which was chosen in memory of my beautiful Nanna, Margaret."
How did Zoë incorporate this theme in to your stationery?
"She included the colours we requested, and styled with love hearts."
What was your experience with Zoë like, as a designer?
"Brilliant! She was just amazing. She understood everything we had asked for, and if there was anything else I wanted to add, she was super about it... and trust me, I was a fuss pot!"
How did you feel when you saw the finished designs?
"Loved everything about everything Zoë had made for us!"
How many bridesmaids and pageboys did you have?
"We had four bridesmaids, one flower girl, one usher and one ring bearer."
Tell us about the big day itself…
"It was one of the best days of our lives! The sun was shining, it all went to plan - it was just amazing throughout. Our photographer, Alex O'neill, was fantastic throughout the day and made everybody laugh."
What was the easiest thing about planning your wedding?
"There was nothing easy! Haha!"
…and the hardest?
"The table plan - that was awkward."
Did your guests like your stationery?
"Everyone loved everything Zoë had created for us. The table numbers were just the best, we had lots of comments and giggles on those!"
Did you get any particularly positive feedback for your theme and design?
"Yes the table numbers, and Damien loved his personalised card, which was truly beautiful... although the gift inside to throw him out of the plane, he liked that the best!"
Where are you planning to go on your honeymoon?
"We went on a short break near the Lake District, which was lovely. We plan on going somewhere hot next year!"
Would you recommend LMSB to friends and family?
"Of course I would, she was amazing!"
Some really glowing feedback here and as always we are thrilled to have been given the opportunity to bring another bride’s stationery dreams to reality.
